This dairy-free super food avocado smoothie recipe is incredibly versatile, which means you can make substitutions or add variations to it according to your taste buds. Don’t worry; your imagination and creativity are the only limits.

Firstly, if you don’t like almond milk, you can substitute it with other non-dairy milk, such as coconut milk or oat milk. You can also make this smoothie recipe without milk at all. Instead, use water or juice to thin it out to your desired consistency.

For added sweetness, substitute the Manuka honey with two soaked dates or a tablespoon of peanut butter. You can also switch the mangoes with other fruits and berries, such as blueberries or raspberries. The blueberry smoothie is my favourite variation because it is rich in antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties.

If you want to turn this smoothie into a meal replacement shake or protein smoothie, add one scoop of your preferred protein powder. I love using chocolate protein powder for an extra flavourful kick.

Furthermore, for those who follow a keto diet, you can use ingredients that fit into this dietary lifestyle. Substitute the mango for an extra ripe avocado and use canned coconut milk instead of almond milk to create this delicious Keto Avocado Smoothie.

Lastly, don’t forget to get creative with the toppings! Consider adding some ground flax seed or almond butter on top for added nutrition and crunchy texture.

Overall, the substitutions and variations are endless with this avocado smoothie recipe. Experiment away!

The great thing about this smoothie recipe is that it can be prepped in advance and stored in the fridge until you’re ready to enjoy it. Simply make up a batch of the smoothie ingredients, blend them together in a blender or smoothie maker, and then transfer the mixture into an airtight container. This can be stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours before you plan to drink it.

If you want to make this smoothie even more convenient for those busy mornings, you could also choose to freeze individual portions in advance. Simply pour your blended smoothie into an ice cube tray and let it freeze overnight. Once frozen, transfer the cubes into a freezer-safe container so that they’re ready when you are.

Tips for Perfect Results

 Delicious, dairy-free, and guilt-free.
Delicious, dairy-free, and guilt-free.

Now that you have the recipe and the ingredients, it’s time to step up your blending game and make the best Dairy-Free Superfood Avocado Smoothie. Here are some tips and things to keep in mind when making this smoothie recipe.

First, make sure your avocado is ripe and ready to use. The creaminess and flavor of this fruit are essential for a delicious smoothie. You can test the ripeness by gently squeezing the avocado. If it feels soft, then it’s ready to be used.

Another thing to keep in mind is the consistency of your smoothie. If you prefer a thicker texture, reduce the amount of almond milk or coconut milk in the recipe. On the other hand, if you like a thinner texture, add more liquid.

For those who want to turn this smoothie into a weight-loss-friendly option or enhance their protein intake, adding protein powder is an excellent option. You can add a scoop of protein powder without altering the taste or texture of your smoothie drastically.

When using frozen ingredients, such as frozen banana or berries, make sure you blend them first before adding any other ingredient. This will help break down any clumps and ensure even blending throughout.

Additionally, feel free to switch up your greens for some variety. Spinach is a great option for its mild flavor and health benefits; however, kale and other leafy greens work as well.

Lastly, if you have leftovers or prefer to make this recipe ahead of time, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours. When reheating before consumption, make sure you give it a good shake and add ice cubes or extra liquid as needed for optimal consistency.

With these tips in mind, you’re on your way to the perfect Dairy-Free Superfood Avocado Smoothie every time you blend it.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1 cup almond milk (or more to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons ground flax seeds
  • 1/4 banana (I had this at hand the first time I made it but have successfully subbed another 1/2 avocado)
  • 1 scoop wheat grass powder
  • 1 cup frozen berries (optional)

Instructions

  • I simply poor everything into a jar and let my stick blender at it until it's a nice creamy texture, and I don't see any chunks. Sometimes I have to add more milk if it's a bit thick, especially if I added berries. My yield is usually about 1 3/4 of a cup but it's not exact. When I have them, I love adding frozen berries for a frosty treat and the added nutrients; I especially love blueberries. The brands I usually use are Silk Pure Almond original flavor almond milk (but I like coconut almond too), Spectrum Decadent Blend Chia & Flax Seed with coconut & cocoa (when I don't have that I will usually still add about 1 tsp chia seeds and a bit of coconut if I have any) and Garden of Life Alkalizer & Detoxifier RAW Organic Green Super Food grass powder.
