Now, I’m going to give you some ideas to experiment with this Cheeseless Cheese Crackers recipe. I know how important it is for you to have options that suit your taste or dietary restrictions, that’s why I’ve come up with some great substitutions and variations that can help you achieve the perfect crackers every time.

– Flour: This recipe calls for a gluten-free flour blend made of almond flour and rice flour, but feel free to try other gluten-free flours such as cassava flour or coconut flour if you want to mix things up. If you don’t follow a gluten-free diet, you can use wheat flour instead.

– Tahini: If you don’t have tahini on hand or don’t like its taste, you can substitute it with other nut or seed butter like peanut butter or sunflower seed butter.

– Nutritional yeast: Nutritional yeast gives these crackers a cheesy flavor without the cheese. However, if you’re not a fan of its taste, you can leave it out without compromising the recipe’s quality.

– Oil: This recipe uses olive oil but feel free to substitute grape seed oil, avocado oil or coconut oil.

– Cider vinegar: You can use white vinegar or any other kind of vinegar instead of cider vinegar if needed.

– Flavorings: To add extra flavor, try adding spices like chili powder, smoked paprika or dried herbs like thyme and rosemary. Garlic powder would also be great in this recipe.

– Cheese crackers variation: You can omit the nutritional yeast and add 3/4 cup vegan cheddar cheese instead to make vegan cheese crackers.

By altering some of the ingredients in this recipe, it’s possible to create different flavors and textures for your crackers. Don’t hesitate to be creative in the kitchen and try something new each time!

Tips for Perfect Results

Satisfy your hunger and your taste buds with these deliciously

Now that you know how to prepare these delicious cheeseless cheese crackers, it’s time to talk about some tips for getting the best results. Making gluten and dairy-free crackers can be a bit tricky at first, but with these suggestions, your crackers will come out perfectly every time.

One important tip is to make sure all the ingredients are evenly mixed. When preparing the dough, take your time to blend all the ingredients well until they form a smooth and uniform dough. Uneven mixing can result in uneven baking, leading to some crackers being overcooked while others remain undercooked.

Another key tip is to keep an eye on the oven temperature and the baking time. Gluten-free and dairy-free dough tends to brown faster than regular dough, so it’s essential to check your crackers frequently while they’re in the oven. You don’t want them to burn, but on the other hand, you don’t want them to be too soft or chewy either.

If you’re using parchment paper, make sure it’s securely placed on your baking sheet. This will help prevent your crackers from sticking to the pan and breaking apart when you try to remove them. You could even lightly grease your baking sheet with olive oil or another neutral-tasting oil.

Lastly, be patient when handling fragile gluten-free crackers. They’re more delicate than regular ones, so avoid moving them around too quickly or forcefully. Keep in mind that they’ll become crispier as they cool, so wait a few minutes before transferring them or storing them in an airtight container.

By following these simple tips, you’re sure to have perfectly baked gluten-free and dairy-free cheeseless cheese crackers every time!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup red lentil
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons tahini
  • 9 tablespoons gluten-free flour

Instructions

  • Combine lentils and water in a pot. Heat to boiling, then simmer for 20-30 minutes, until water is absorbed.
  • Mix all ingredients in a blender or food processor until they form a smooth sauce. The mixture should have the consistency of porridge; you may need to add extra water to get it there.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Transfer mixture to a pastry bag or a cookie press. Make shapes (I make mostly stars but also alphabet letters) on two cookie sheets that are either nonstick or lined with parchment paper. The crackers don't spread while baking, so you can put them very close together on the cookie sheet.
  • Bake for 15 minutes or until just starting to brown. (I generally swap the positions of the two cookie sheets part-way through to encourage them to cook evenly. Otherwise the crackers on the bottom cookie sheet end up overcooked.) At this point the crackers will be soft. Turn off the oven and allow to remain for 30 minutes or until crisp. Remove and allow to cool completely. Store in airtight containiner.
