Perfectly seasoned, tender and flavorful without any gluten or dairy

If you’re looking to switch things up in this recipe or make substitutions to fit your dietary needs, there are a few options that you can consider.

First off, instead of using breakfast sausage in the meatloaf mixture, you can try swapping it out for ground turkey or chicken. This makes the dish less heavy and more lean while still packing in the protein. You can also use plant-based meat substitutes like Beyond Meat or Impossible Meat for a vegan option.

For those who are lactose intolerant or avoid dairy products, you can use non-dairy milk alternatives such as almond or soy milk in place of the traditional milk used in the mashed potatoes. Additionally, try making a mushroom-based gravy instead of using beef broth for a vegetarian version of this dish.

If you prefer a sweeter taste profile, then you can use honey in place of brown sugar and apple cider vinegar instead of red wine vinegar to make a sweet and tangy glaze to top your meatloaf.

Lastly, if you want to add some vegetables to your meal, consider including diced carrots, peas or mushrooms into the meatloaf mixture. You could also make a potato-stuffed meatloaf by filling it with mashed potatoes before baking.

Overall, feel free to experiment with this recipe and tailor it to your liking. There are so many ways to make this recipe work for any diet or taste preference while still keeping it healthy and delicious.

When it comes to prepping this Di’s Gluten Free Meatloaf with Mashed Potatoes & Gravy Recipe ahead of time, you’ve got some options. You can either prep the meatloaf in advance and store it in the fridge or freezer before cooking, or you can cook the meatloaf entirely ahead of time and store it for later.

If you choose to make the meatloaf mixture ahead of time, be sure to store the mixture in an airtight container in the fridge and to only add the tomato sauce topping just before baking. Keep in mind that if you choose to freeze the raw meatloaf mixture, the texture may change slightly after being thawed.

Once cooked, you can store any leftover meatloaf covered in the fridge for up to three days. To reheat, preheat your oven to 350°F and place slices of meatloaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover loosely with foil to prevent drying out and heat until warmed through.

The mashed potatoes can also be made ahead of time and reheated when needed. After mashing the cooked potatoes, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. Reheat by adding a splash of milk and heating in the microwave for 1-2 minutes or until heated through.

Finally, leftover gravy can be stored covered in the fridge for up to one week. To reheat, simply transfer it to a small saucepan over low heat and stir occasionally until warmed through, adding a splash of beef broth or water if necessary to thin it out slightly.

By preparing certain portions of this recipe ahead of time, you’ll have an easy weeknight meal ready and waiting for you when you need it!

Indulge without sacrificing your health or dietary restrictions
Indulge without sacrificing your health or dietary restrictions

When it comes to making the perfect gluten-free meatloaf, there are a few tips and tricks that can help make the process easier and more enjoyable. Here are some tips for ensuring you get the best results:

1. Use lean ground beef: To ensure that your meatloaf doesn’t turn out too greasy or heavy, use lean ground beef instead of fattier versions. This will also help your meatloaf hold its shape better while cooking.

2. Don’t overmix: While it may be tempting to mix all of your ingredients thoroughly before shaping your meatloaf, overmixing can actually lead to a tougher texture. Instead, mix just until the ingredients are evenly distributed.

3. Let it rest: Once your meatloaf is finished cooking, allow it to rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. This will help the flavors meld together and make for a more enjoyable eating experience.

4. Make your own gravy: While store-bought gravy may be convenient, making your own mushroom gravy (or any other type you’d like!) can add an extra layer of flavor and complexity to your meal.

5. Experiment with toppings: Don’t be afraid to play around with different toppings for your meatloaf – whether it’s homemade ketchup or a spicy tomato sauce on top, the possibilities are endless!

By following these tips and putting your own spin on this classic comfort food dish, you’re sure to create a delicious and satisfying gluten-free meatloaf that you’ll want to make time and time again.
