  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted

For the filling:

  • 1 (12 ounces) package firm silken tofu
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter (vegan and free-peanut for allergies option)
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 (14 ounces) can full-fat coconut milk, refrigerated overnight
  • 1/3 cup bittersweet chocolate chips, melted (vegan and dairy-free chocolate chips for allergies option)

Substitutions and Variations

It’s hard to believe that this delicious dessert is dairy-free.

Whether you have dietary restrictions, want to switch things up, or simply don’t have all the ingredients on hand, this recipe is quite versatile when it comes to substitutions and variations. Here are a few options to consider:

– Peanut Butter: If you prefer a different nut butter, feel free to use that instead of peanut butter. Almond butter, cashew butter, and sunflower seed butter are all great options.

– Chocolate: If bittersweet chocolate isn’t your thing, you can use milk chocolate or semisweet chocolate instead.

– Dairy-free cream cheese: If you can’t find vegan cream cheese or prefer not to use it, you can replace it with an equal amount of firm silken tofu.

– Crust: While I used an Oreo crust for this pie, you can certainly use a graham cracker crust instead. If you’re looking for a gluten-free option, try using a crust made from almond flour.

– Sweetener: If you don’t have maple syrup on hand or prefer not to use it, honey or agave nectar can be used instead.

– No-bake: If you don’t want to turn on the oven or if it’s too hot outside, you can make this pie without baking it. After making the filling according to the instructions, simply pour it into the pie crust and refrigerate it for at least 2 hours before serving.

Remember that these substitutions may alter the taste and texture of the final product slightly. Experimenting with different variations is part of the fun!

This dairy-free peanut butter pie is perfect for any occasion. It’s a delightful dessert that will satisfy your sweet tooth without leaving you feeling guilty. Serve it chilled with some fresh berries, drizzle it with chocolate sauce, or sprinkle some chopped peanuts on top.

For a decadent twist, try pairing this pie with a glass of almond milk or coconut milk. The richness of the peanut butter and the creaminess of the filling pair wonderfully with the nutty flavors of these non-dairy milks.

If you’re feeling adventurous, why not try adding some salty pretzels to your serving plate? The contrast between the smooth and rich filling and the crunchy pretzels will create an intriguing texture and flavor combination.

For those following a keto or gluten-free diet, this peanut butter pie can be served in small portions as a part of a larger spread of healthy options. Add some fresh fruit, nuts, and cheese to your spread to offer variety and nutrition without sacrificing flavor.

No matter how you choose to serve it, this peanut butter pie is sure to impress. Perfect for potlucks, family gatherings or an indulgent evening dessert, everyone will enjoy its creamy texture and delicious flavor.

Make-Ahead, Storing and Reheating

This pie is so easy to make that you'll be making it all year round.
This pie is so easy to make that you’ll be making it all year round.

Do you want to enjoy your delicious peanut butter pie recipe immediately or save it for later? Not to worry! I have some tips on how to make-ahead, store, and reheat this delightful dessert.

To make-ahead the pie, prepare and bake it in advance, then cover it tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 3 days before serving. This makes it perfect for dinner parties or holiday gatherings where you don’t want to spend too much time in the kitchen.

If you find yourself with leftover pie, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. You can also freeze any leftover slices for up to a month. Simply wrap each slice in plastic wrap or foil and place them in a container or freezer bag.

When it comes time to reheat your pie, there are two options: room temperature or heated. If you prefer room temperature desserts, simply take the pie out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before serving. If you like your desserts warm, preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and bake for 10-15 minutes until heated through.

Remember that this is a delicate pie which means that reheating too much might cause it to dry out. To avoid this problem, brush the crust with coconut oil, add some xanthan gum, or use non-dairy cream while reheating which will keep your peanut butter filling moist and creamy.

As always, if you have any questions about making-ahead, storing, or reheating your dairy-free peanut butter pie recipe, feel free to reach out!

Tips for Perfect Results

The filling is out-of-this-world creamy without any dairy or gluten.
The filling is out-of-this-world creamy without any dairy or gluten.

Creating the perfect Dairy Free Peanut Butter Pie can be a bit intimidating, especially if you are new to dairy-free and gluten-free baking. Luckily, there are a few tips and tricks that I have acquired over the years of experimentation to help you achieve that perfect silky smooth filling.

Tip #1: Use Firm Silken Tofu

One of the secrets to achieving great texture in this recipe is using firm silken tofu. Not only does it add creaminess to the filling, but it also adds a source of protein. No need to worry about any soy flavor overtaking your peanut butter pie – the creamy peanut butter will still remain the star of this pie.

Tip #2: Add Xanthan Gum

Xanthan gum is a common ingredient used in gluten-free baking as a thickening agent. In this case, it helps hold the filling together by emulsifying the liquids and preventing separation. You only need a little bit of xanthan gum to do the job – too much can create a gummy texture.

Tip #3: Refrigerate Overnight

After you’ve assembled your dairy free peanut butter pie, cover it with plastic wrap and refrigerate it overnight before serving. This step will allow your filling to set fully, ensuring clean slices when it’s time to serve.

Tip #4: Use Good Quality Chocolate

The chocolate ganache on top of this peanut butter pie provides an extra layer of richness and indulgence. Be sure to use good quality bittersweet chocolate for maximum flavor impact. Trust me, it’s worth the splurge.

Tip #5: Let It Come To Room Temperature

If your peanut butter pie has been sitting in the fridge for more than an hour or two, let it sit out at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before serving. This will allow for easier slicing and melting in your mouth enjoyment.

With these tips in mind, you are well on your way to creating the perfect Dairy Free Peanut Butter Pie. Enjoy!

I found this on the Whole Foods website and will be trying it tonight. I have been dying to make a peanut butter pie that I could enjoy but not being able to eat dairy products really limits the peanut butter pie recipes to try. Plus I am not a huge fan of cool whip.
